Granby Park Statues
During one of the last few weeks in Uppsala, there was an art sculpture opening in Granby park, which our apartment overlooked. Along with about twenty other community members and local artists, we attended this opening and examined a couple of other statues, strategically laid out throughout the park and designed by a young, local artist.
Park sculptures are one of those things that become part of the community landscape, something you don’t really take the time to appreciate and enjoy, so it was a real privilege to be able to be there for the unveiling and opening of these particular ones.
It made me take a second to consider some of the things that make my own community special and unique, statues that seem to blend into the every day, regardless of how consciously they were placed at their location.
